Bear Claw for Great Respect in China?

Giving a bear claw to your host, used to be considered as a great honour in the past in China. The bear claw represents respect, strength and honour. This isn’t however legal in China. In the past, there were rumours that some upscale hotels in Hong Kong still keep a bear claw in the freezer for when a special person from China visits their hotel. This isn’t likely the case anymore nowadays.
